Fentanyl Pain Patch/Duragesic Fentanyl Pain Patch

Pain patches are a means of delivering pain relief through the skin by using a large "band aid" impregnated with narcotics. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) announced in July 2005 that pain patches were being investigated because of reports that an unacceptable number of injuries and deaths were attributed to the use of Fentanyl Transdermal patches. These included patches marketed under the Duragestic brand name. Pain patches have been linked to overdoses of narcotics that caused death and to serious accidents caused by pain patch users being under the influence of the opiates in the pain patch.
